In our old house, we had to put the TV above the fireplace. I wasn't crazy about it, but there was just no other way to arrange the room and get the maximum amount of seating. In our new home I knew I really wanted to try to make it work without having the TV above our fireplace. My husband wasn't sold on the idea, but thankfully I convinced him to give it a try.
I needed a place to put the TV though, and a place to store all of our electronics. I didn't really want to buy anything new. Plus I had a feeling I could make this dresser work with just a few easy tweaks.
The center portion has two doors with three drawers inside. I removed the tracks for the drawers. They just unscrewed easily and popped right out.
Then I had the kind people at Home Depot cut some plywood for me to use as shelves. I just slipped the wood right into each of the slots and nailed them down to secure them. Then I painted everything white to match the outside, drilled a few holes in the back for cords and reattached the doors.
Pardon all my junk in the garage. I'm working on it. :)
Here it is in our living room. We just open the doors when we are using it.
And the best part is, I can just close the doors when we are done and everything is out of sight!
We always keep the electronics off when we aren't using them just to make sure nothing overheats. So far it's working great for us!
