Envelopes that Sparkle

As I'm planning my daughter's first birthday (I can't believe it!!), I've been on a gold glitter kick as evidenced by yesterday's post.  I guess it's a good thing I had a girl because gold glittery invitations for a boy would be a little weird.  Anyways, I wanted to add a little pizazz to these invitations since you only turn one once.

I started with the plain white envelopes that came with her invites.  Then, I bought some gold glittery scrapbook paper from Michaels (it comes in several different colors).  Next, I just opened the envelope laid it on the back side of the scrapbook paper and traced it to form a template.

I cut it out and it looked something like this.  As you can see it's not perfect but it won't really matter because you won't be able to tell once you insert it into the envelope.

Then, I just applied a little glue to the back side with a glue stick and slid the inserts into my envelopes.  It's so easy and gives such a fun, glamorous result!

I love the contrast of the gold with the black chalkboard-esque invites we chose.  (They are from Shutterfly)

Unfortunately I ran out of glittery paper with a few invites to go.  I didn't want to leave those plain so I dug through my scrapbook paper and found some light pink cardstock.  I followed the same steps for lining the envelopes and then glued a small glittery heart (that I cut out from the scraps of the other paper) in the center.  These would be great for Valentine's day too!
