Hutch...After!!

I have been talking about painting our dining room hutch for what seems like forever.  I finally decided to put that plan into action.  Here is the reminder of the before.  I know it's a shame to paint good wood, but this just wasn't my style.  I tried to make it work but eventually got tired of it.  So, I took the plunge and painted it a nice warm gray.  It makes the room look totally different and I love it!  The milk glass really pops now.  I'm not sure what the color is because it was actually oops paint.

(this is an old picture, as you can see my milk glass collection has really grown :)

and after....

I decided to add some decor to the top of the hutch to draw the eye up and make the room seem taller and it really works.  I'm still playing around with the arrangement of the accessories....I don't want it to become cluttered

I can understand your hesitation to paint good wood, but in this case you made a great call. The contrast between the new paint color and the milk glass really works.

I bet that just looks totally awesome!!! It looks great! Total Better homes and garden feel! Great job! I just did a huge mirror on my blog that I will be posting as soon as my hubby gets it hung up it is super heavy and a great $15 score from St. Vinnies :) It was a really ugly oak to start with. Great job on the hutch it inspires me! :)

Sometimes a piece needs a coat of paint to truly show what an awesome piece it is! I love it with the gray paint! It makes the piece look so different and definitely makes your milk glass collection much more attractive. Great job!

That looks amazing! I'm in love with gray right now for everything from clothes, furniture, to fingernail polish! :) Beautiful work

I LOVE your milk glass collection - I have one too, but definitely not as much as yours. I just wish I had room for a hutch like yours to display mine! :)

I know you did this awhile ago, but I wanted to ask you about the combination of brown and gray! I LOVE it in this room, but I've been so hesitant to combine those colors in my own house (specifically my Master Bathroom which has off white counters, tan(ish) tile, and cherry cabinets. Should I just go for it?? I wanted to do gray, dark navy, and whites. Any suggestions?
