Dresser Makeover

Since we have been on the subject of my nephew Tucker the past few days, I thought I would share another project I did for him. This dresser had been hiding in his closet for a while, just waiting to come out. It was actually Tucker's father's dresser from when he was a little boy. Needless to say, it had seen it's fair share of wear and tear. I decided to go with that instead of working against it by giving it an aged, distressed look. I sanded it, primed it, and painted it with some burnt orange paint. I thought the color would really pop against the green walls in his room. After painting it orange and distressing it a bit, it still just seemed like something was missing. So, I found an old can of stain in the garage and went over the entire thing to give it a more aged look and to bring out the distressing. Next, I added some hardware (from Hobby Lobby $1.50/each). I actually think the hardware made the biggest difference in this piece. It just makes it seem more substantial to me.

and AFTER!

and this picture is a little blury but it's the only one I have of the drawers...I decided to line them with pages from an old atlas.  I tried to pick states that either they lived in, had lived in, or just liked to visit.  Free and fun!
