A Pink Cardboard House

We got a huge cardboard box in the mail a few weeks ago that contained an ottoman for a client.  Normally I would have just thrown it away, but I saw how much fun my daughter was having with it and decided to turn it into a playhouse, why not?

So the next day, I whipped out all my leftover paint from various projects and got to work.  I decided on pink for the main color of the outside, because I always wanted a pink house when I was younger.  I guess I'll just be living vicariously through my daughter on that one.  I could have very easily gotten carried away with this project.  I had grand plans of wallpaper, window boxes, curtains, rugs...and then I had to remind myself it's just a cardboard box, so I stopped at painting the outside.

Here it is at my parents house where we had my daughter's first birthday.  It was a hit with all the kids.  Pardon the poor lighting it was a dreary day outside.

The address was 143 (I love you)

So freaking cute!
I do the same with large boxes but I usually let them decorate it with paint and markers.
What is it with kids and cats and boxes??? Both of them act like it's the best thing ever.
