Gold Chandelier

I have always loved the IKEA MASKROS pendant lamp.  For the price it can't be beat when it comes to size and feminine details.  And it casts some pretty cool shadows to boot.  So when we moved into our new home I thought it would be a perfect fit for my daughter's room.  However I didn't take into account that we were going from 9 ft. ceilings upstairs to 8 ft. ceilings upstairs in our new house.  It's probably one of the only things I would change about our house if I could.  Anyways, when I installed this light in my daughter's room it looked enormous!  Well maybe not that big, but it was still really disproportional to the ceiling height.  I even went with the smaller version, but it still felt way to big for the room.  And my daughter could reach up and touch it while standing on her bed.  So I felt like that was probably just asking for trouble.

You can't really tell the scale from the picture, but if you compare it to the ceiling medallion it kind of  gives you an idea.

I happened to have this sweet little chandelier in our garage.  I'm ashamed to admit I've been holding onto it for the past 3-4 years.  I always had plans to put it in our old master closet, but obviously that never happened.  Now I'm kind of glad I procrastinated, because it works perfectly in this space.  It was a yellow/green color when I found it at a local consignment shop, but a few coats of gold spray paint (design master antique gold) made it feel fresh again.

After seeing Jennifer's beautiful chandelier transformation, I decided round bulbs would give it the perfect little modern touch I was looking for.

And don't worry about the Maskros, I've got plans for it!  In fact, it's undergoing a little makeover right now!
