Pom Pom Trim Curtains

We are fortunate enough to a have a playroom in our new home.  It's really nice to have a place to corral all the toys, or try to anyways.  I'm still deciding what to do in there.  I feel like there are so many different directions I could go with it, but I just can't make up my mind.  In the meantime I wanted to do something in there to make it look a little more finished.  It's one of the first rooms you see when you walk in the house, so I wanted it to look somewhat put together.  I started by hanging a curtain rod we had lying in the garage.  Then I hung up a few pairs of IKEA Vivan curtains someone had given us as a housewarming gift.  These curtains are a little flimsy on their own, but doubling them up made such a difference.  And they are so affordable ($9.99/pair) that you can do so without breaking the bank.

I still felt like they were lacking, so I added some black pom pom trim to the leading edge.  It instantly made them more playful and added another layer of texture to the room.

I just stitched the trim on with my sewing machine, but you could also use fabric glue to achieve the same end result.

If you follow me on instagram (@dwellingsbydevore)  you already saw these, but I found this pair of vintage mid century modern chairs for $20 on Craigslist the other day!  I couldn't email the seller fast enough.  I believe they are Russell Woodard Sculptura chairs, but I'm not 100% sure.  They look identical to all the ones I've seen online.  I'm thinking about adding them to the playroom to create a little sitting area.  I'm undecided on the color but I'm thinking either a bold color or maybe something a little more neutral like a warmish putty.

It seems like most of the rooms in this house are just evolving as we go.  I haven't really had a strong idea of what I wanted from the beginning, except for with our master bedroom.  But I kind of like it that way because the rooms look more collected and interesting as they change over time.

  7. Sweet photo, and glad you had magical family time on vacation! These chairs are crying for a metallic finish, imo. Either stay with the gold you have elsewhere in the house, or possibly a rosy copper, since they'll live in your sweet little girl's play area? Possibly with gold and/or navy cushions? Good luck and enjoy!
