Fall Wreath

I love finding uses for things I already have.  Like these grapevine wreaths and fall leaves.  I had them up in the attic from last year and really wasn't sure what to do with them.  Then it hit me, why not make a wreath?

I'm a less is more kind of girl and I love the simplicity of this wreath!

Wednesday

I always, I sometimes, I never...

I've seen this idea on several blogs and thought it was such a cute idea that I decided to steal copy it :)

I always
do at least one design related thing a day
eat breakfast
hit the snooze button at least three times
kiss my husband goodbye in the morning
cheer for the Florida Gators

I sometimes
eat breakfast for dinner
wish I had a cute little dog
make the bed
like it when it rains

I never
watch scary movies
take out the trash
like driving at night

Tuesday

Dining Room Cabinet Inspiration

So, I've decided that I'm definitlty going to paint my dining room hutch.  Now, the next decision, which finish/color to do?!?  So many choices!  I'm thinking I'll probably keep it fairly neutral since I'm pretty sure I'm not going to want to go through painting it again.  The top contenders are gray with a nice glaze, white with gray on the inside to make the milk glass pop, all white, or white with a gray glaze...I will also probably end up doing something similar to the table since it's the same finish that I'm not a big fan of.

Here is what it looks like now...

Here are some pretty cabinets for inspiration....love how the gray on this one still looks warm not to stark or industrial...

I could go a little crazy and paint it this beautiful shade of blue...but I think it might be too much of a color committment for me since I change my mind often...

or solid gray with a darker gray inside to make the white milk glass really pop...

definitly loving this one...maybe my favorite....

white with light blue inside...

Hopefully I will be able to start and finish this project soon!  I think it's going to make such a huge difference!

thoughts?  ideas?

Monday

Antique Bottle Lamp

I found this great antique bottle at a local antique mall, the price was great and I loved the patina it had on the inside.  You all know how I love to make lamps and I had a feeling this would make a great lamp!  I got a bottle lamp kit from Hobby Lobby ($6 with coupon), a shade, and a little birdie and you have a fun little lamp with some old fashioned charm.

As much as I would love to keep this, there's just no room so it will be for sale in our booth!

Sunday

Easy Pumpkin Muffins

Another reason I love fall?  Pumpkin chocolate chip muffins!  These are so easy and are actually low fat too!  Doesn't get better than that.

Start with one box cake mix of your choice, I like the chocolate but the spice cake mix is good with this too...

Add one can of pumpkin, a little pumpkin pie spice, and about half a can of water...I add chocolate chips too for some extra flavor...

Bake according to the directions on the cake mix and you have some wonderful, moist pumpkin chocolate chip muffins!  So easy and really good!

I got these adorable muffin cups from Hobby Lobby, they always have the cutest things!

Saturday

Oopsie

So, it turns out y'all is spelled y'all not y'all. Does it really matter if you mispell a word that really isn't totally a word anyway? :). Thank you to my sister, the teacher, for pointing that out to me.

Wednesday

Fall Print

It seems every time you turn around there's another spinoff of this print popping up and I'm about to show you another one.  I'm sure you've all seen this or something like it, but I think it appeals to so many because of the fun bright colors, the cute expressions used, and the simplicity.  So, I decided to use it as an inspiration for some fall decor.

Here is the inspiration print I'm talking about..

and for my version, I started out with this chunky frame from Goodwill and gave it a quick coat of white spraypaint...

and used some simple clip art to create a nice fall greeting by my front door...The only thing my husband said when he saw it was, "Only in the south..."  I think that means he likes it :)

Hope ya'll are having a happy fall!

Friday

Dressed up desk

This fantastic makeover comes to us from our friends and fellow business partners at the depot.  They also have an eye for design and a talent for refinishing furniture.  They started out with this desk-old, dingy, and in need of some love.

Getting there....

and here it is in our booth!  If I had room for it I think I would buy it for myself!  I love the contrast of the gray and white and the way the white handles just pop against the gray background.

Happy Friday!  Is it just me or was it a long week?!?

Thursday

Lovely Little Lamp

I'm always amazed at what a little spray adhesive and some fun material will do to an ordinary lampshade.  For this project I used 3M spray adhesive, but I'm sure other types would work.  I just had this on hand.

And attached some fun fabric from Hobby Lobby (one of my most favorite places to go)  I love the pattern and the colors of this material.

and this puppy is for sale in our shop at the depot if you are interested!

Saturday

Thank you Goodwill and VP

Once again vintage printable helps me create very inexpensive wall art. I got all these frames from Goodwill for $0.99 each, which is great because it's rare to find that many the same size at Goodwill. I gave them a quick coat of spray paint and had the images printed at Staples. I love all the green and all the images are of different spices, which seems appropriate for our kitchen eating area. Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!! It's a nice rainy afternoon here which makes for a great day if rest!

Thursday

More Fall

I'm slowly getting my house ready for fall.  I pulled all my fall decor down from the attic today and got to work.  It just puts me in a good mood to decorate for fall, even though it's 100 degrees outside :)  I did a post similar to this last year with my fall decor so if you already saw it I'm sorry.  It was actually the first blog post I ever did, so we'll just say I'm feeling a little nastalgic!  It's a little different and I've made a few additions.  I love these leaves from the dollar store.  I'm not sure they still have them this year, but I hope they do.  They are very pretty, not plasticy like some fake leaves, and the stem is wired so you can easily attach them to things.

So, I started with these leaves from the dollar store and of course if you can't find these exact leaves there's plenty out there you could use.

and spraypainted some sticks silver...I find the more "interesting" the stick, the better.  Meaning the more branches and curves it has the better it looks.

I will probably add a few more sticks just to fill it in a bit, off to the backyard I go!

I also added an extra wreath I had to the tablescape by placing it around the bottom of the vase.  It adds a little more texture and color.

I also added a leaf to the napkin ring at each place setting for an added punch of color...

I found this fun silver pumpkin and gourd at Homegoods last year, I love that place!

Wednesday

Falling for Fall

Fall is definitely my most favorite time of year! I love the smell in the air, going apple picking with my family, Thanksgiving, and most importantly pumpkin spice lattes! In my book, fall decorating officially begins Sept. 1st, and my husband thinks I'm crazy for this but that isn't unusual :). So, I'm going to share a little sneak into my fall decor, mostly because this is all I have decorated so far. More to come soon! I found this mustard yellow tablecloth at Goodwill this summer and knew the color would be perfect for this fall. I've got some other fun fall decorating ideas involving one of my favorite places, the dollar store. So for now, a very small glimpse into the start of my fall decorating!
