More Turquoise Love

Most of you already know I have a thing for lamps/lighting but I also love mirrors!  I spotted this beauty and loved the long oval shape and feminine details.  The gold finish was a little dated and needed something to freshen it up.  So, I painted it my new favorite color, Island Blue, and now it's ready for a new home!

Speaking of mirrors, I LOVE this DIY Sunburst mirror from Isabella and Max Rooms!  See her full instructions here!

I just wish I had somewhere in my house to put something like this...I may just have to make room for it!

Sunday

Turquoise

We all know that Turquoise blue is a very popular color in blog land right now and I'm loving it too!  I actually remembered to take a before picture of this piece :)  It was a little beat up and just needed some paint and some TLC.  The color I chose is by Valspar and it's called Island Blue in case anyone is wondering.  I was very close to keeping this piece for myself but just have nowhere to put it.  It's for sale in our booth if anyone is interested.

Before...

After

I love the detailing on the legs and a little distressing makes it stand out even more...

and since we are on the subject of side tables, I spotted this beauty in another booth nearby.  I love the color, the legs, the glass, everything!  I just don't need it, but I'm sure someone will come along and snatch it up!  I think it would make a great bedside table.

Monday

Just the after...

I hate it when I forget to take "before" pictures, but alas this is the case with this chair.  I guess I just got too excited to get started on it and forgot to get a pic.  It had been sitting in my garage crying out for some attention for way too long.  I had no room in my house for it, but knew it would go well in our new booth.  So, I snatched up some great remnant fabric at Hancock Fabrics and painted the chair a nice gray.  The stool had also been sitting in my garage for quite some time.  I really wish I had a before picture of this because it was just terrible, a DIY project gone wrong.  Someone had reupholstered it using a hot glue gun.  Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for hot glue but not in this case.  On top of all that, it was covered in a hideous green velvet fabric.  My description does not do it justice.  So, imagine the before and now look at the AFTER!!

I added this wooden embellishment from Lowe's because before it looked just a little too plain...

and one of my favorite parts is the bottom of this stool, go figure it's the part you never see ;)  It just looked like a mess with the leftover remnants of hot glue from the previous project, so I covered it in a fun coordinating fabric.

Wednesday

Bitten by the Burlap Bug

I know I'm a little late to jump on the burlap train, but I love it!  It all started with this little chair that I did for my sister.  I happened to have some leftover and thought it would go great with a bench I had in my garage.  The bench itself was a little beat up, but I think that just gives it character.  This also meant I couldn't go to fancy with my fabric, so burlap was perfect.

before...

and after!

I love this ruffled trim from Hobby Lobby ($1.20 a yard with coupon)

I found this cool old book at an Estate sale last Sunday.  I love the color of it and it's actually an old cookbook, so I may try some of the recipes.  It was my first estate sale and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  We found lots of great deals!

This item is also for sale in my new shop!

Sunday

Soda shop chair

I call this a soda shop chair because that's what it looks like to me. I'm not sure what it's really called. Here is the before, and this picture doesn't do it's ugliness justice. I used my new favorite green rustoleum spraypaint and some great remnant fabric from Hancock Fabrics.

So before....

After....

This is for sale in our new booth at a designer antique mall!  I will post more info soon, we are so excited about it!

Wednesday

sweet boy

I've been working on a new endeavour that has kept me quite busy.  I'm looking forward to sharing it with you next week when it's all completed!  It's going to lead to a lot more blogging too! :)  But, for now I will share with you some more pictures of my little bitty chair that make it even cuter, that's my opinion and I may be a little biased because this is my sweet nephew.  Don't you just want to squeeze those cheeks?!?

Tuesday

Little Bitty

My sister found this adorable little chair to use for a prop in her photography business, but the hot air balloons just weren't cutting it. It needed a little face lift so she turned to me for some help. We wanted it to pop, but still be gender neutral and neutral enough to go with several different backgrounds. My first thought was green, it definitely pops and is still fairly neutral. We decided on some burlap to cover the cushion and some pom pom balls to add a little fun touch.

Here is the before...

Painted with some GLS Fern Rustoleum spraypaint (still has the best coverage I think)

and stapled the fabric in place...

I attached the pom pom balls using some hot glue...

and ta da!

and a little ruffle in the back...

Sunday

Ball Jar Lamp

I'm sure a lot of you have seen these before, but I thought I'd share mine with you. I have a friend who hunts milkglass for me and she mentioned she liked lights made with ball jars. So, on a recent trip to an antique mall, I picked up an old Ball jar and decided to make her a lamp. These are so easy to make. You can buy a kit to make them like this one from amazon, or you can do like I do and just buy an old lamp from goodwill and take out the "innards." Check out my lamp wiring tutorial HERE for more info.  Total cost for this project was under ten dollars.  The Bell Jar was $5.99, the lampshade was $0.49 at Goodwill, and I used the parts from a $2.99 lamp from Goodwill.

Here is the one that I made...

I'm really starting to like Ball jars, the pretty blue color, the simplicity...and it seems a lot of other people are liking them too.  Here are some great DIY ideas using Ball jars...

Cute pendant light from Etsy.

how cool is this!
