Inexpensive Updates

am always looking for inexpensive ways to update my home, as every couple of months I find myself getting bored but not wanting to spend a lot of money.  I thought I would share a couple of inexpensive ideas with you. I've seen rooms in magazines painted all black, and although I love them, I don't have the guts to do that in my home.  However, I did get a little brave and decided to paint one wall in my home black.  The thing I love about paint is that it's inexpensive and if you don't like it you can always just paint over it.  So, I found a can of black paint (leftover from another one of my projects :)) in our garage and got to work.  I love the way it turned out and it definitly makes the dramatic impact I was going for.  Here is the before picture... (sorry I don't have a picture of the whole wall)

and...AFTER!

Another inexpensive thing I did in this space was to cover the table with fabric.  This table was originally part of our dining room set, but we didn't have room for it so it found it's way to this space instead.  Although I didn't mind the color of the wood too much, I wasn't really crazy about the way it looked in this area.  So, I found some material that I had saved for a situation like this (it was $1/yard at Walmart and I knew I would find a need for it one day!), got out the staple gun, and went to work.  I did remove the legs of the table just to make it easier but you wouldn't necessarily have to do that.  You could do this to a side table, coffe table, console table, or any table for that matter and if you get tired of it you can just recover it or remove the staples and no harm is done.  I think it's better than paint because you can use any pattern you want!  Here is a close up picture of the table top.

I absolutely love your use of color in your home. The turquoise and purples and black... wow! I would never think to do that but I love the way the silver just pops off the black!
